Savoring is a useful strategy for experiencing and prolonging positive emotions. Explore this activity to learn how to enjoy the present moment.

Some of the skill-building activities offered on this site will help you develop greater potential for happiness, such as skills like a growth mindset. Other skills will directly help you increase your happiness in the moment. One of these skills is fun.

Enjoying is when you intentionally try to prolong or increase your positive emotions. Regular pleasure is proven to contribute to better well-being, so let’s practice pleasure.

Activity: Enjoy

In this activity, you will spend 10 minutes writing about a happy, joyful, or pleasant event that previously occurred. THIS WEEK.
For example, you could write about: “A good conversation you had with a friend.”

1. Write about it People, smells, sounds, physical sensations and sights that you experienced at the time of the event.
2. Focus on the positive emotions that you felt during and immediately after this event.
3. Focus on how this event happened and how you created this situation for yourself.
4. Write about everything that makes you feel good about this event.
