I’ve been interested in wellness for almost a decade and I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m still stressed almost daily. It’s not that I don’t know what to do. It’s just that I’m tired of practicing deep breathing, mindfulness or yoga. Most people will find that even the most effective stress relief techniques stop working after a while. This phenomenon is called hedonic adaptation. And the best way to overcome hedonistic adaptation is to try something new.
Below, I share some surprising, research-backed ways to reduce stress.
1. Place on a spiked mat for 30 minutes
|
You probably think I’m crazy, but my acupressure mat is my favorite stress reliever. Research shows that acupressure relieves anxiety quickly (but the effects don’t last long). This makes it a great tool for de-stressing at the end of a long day and falling asleep at a reasonable time. After lying in bed on the mat for 20-30 minutes, my back feels hot and tingly. Whether I’m reading or watching TV, soon I can’t keep my eyes open. Note that getting up from the mat after falling asleep is a slightly painful but fun experience. Try it >>

Try going somewhere natural, or better yet, go to a Spa to relax. You can increase your success and productivity while having the opportunity to reduce stress. You won’t regret it.

It may sound crazy, but cupping – or suctioning areas of skin – can Relieve this kind of pain and associated stress. Be careful, though, as cupping will leave large, cup-sized bruises on your skin.

6. Use curcumin supplements
|
It was a shock for me. A randomized controlled trial showed that Curcumin led to a reduction in anxiety symptoms after 30 days of use. You may not feel better immediately, but adding cumin to your diet seems simple enough to me. I really like the taste Curcuminso I continue to eat Popcorn a few times a week, but for those of you who don’t, Supplements are available.
