The 20 Best Spiritual Books (Spiritual Awakening Books)
20. Shadow Work for the Soul: Seeing Beauty in the Dark
Shadow Work for The Soul also has a more spiritual lens than other books on shadow work. Although the mind and psyche play a huge part in the spiritual awakening journey, these aspects are often missing from other books on spirituality. The balance here is just right, and I found myself nodding as I read through the different types of beliefs and illusions that one must eradicate as they go through the stages of spiritual growth. That’s why I highly recommend this book to anyone who still experiences negative emotions about the past.
19. The Inner Bonding Workbook: Six Steps to Healing Yourself and Connecting with Your Divine Guidance
I can tell you now that this book changed my life. Some of the activities in the book help you begin talking to your spirit guides and your inner child. As a psychologist, I had already done a massive amount of self-work before this, but this book marked the beginning of the hard work of deconstructing unconscious beliefs that often goes along with spiritual awakening. Over the next few years, I developed positive relationships with both my spirit guides and inner child—relationships that have carried me through the difficult times and challenges that emerge in the later stages of spiritual awakening.
18. The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom
If you’re looking for a quick start to spirituality with just a few tips to try, this is a nice, easy, and short book to read.

17. The Spiritual Awakening Guide: Kundalini, Psychic Abilities, and the Conditioned Layers of Reality
If you pick up the book, as I did, somewhere in the middle of your journey, you’ll nod along with the author’s description of the layers of reality that have already fallen away. Then as you read ahead, the future stages may sound a little strange until BAM, you lose that layer of reality and understand what the author was talking about. So if you’re feeling lost or adrift in your spiritual awakening, this book is highly recommended.

16. Boundary Boss: The Essential Guide to Talk True, Be Seen, and (Finally) Live Free
I stumbled across this book before I knew I was awakening and just thought I was struggling with relationships. I mean, I was struggling with relationships, but the pain of that struggle became unbearable. Having never set boundaries before, this book helped me better understand that I had the right to boundaries in my relationships and how to set them effectively. I read other boundary books, but this was the only one that really helped.

15. Healing Trauma: A Pioneering Program for Restoring the Wisdom of Your Body
Healing Trauma is a short guide that helps you begin to process trauma through your body. This approach helps you process this trauma without recounting or ruminating on your past. Instead, it focuses on clearing the stuck energy in your body. As someone who experienced my fair share of trauma, I found this book and its techniques very helpful in beginning to move the stuck trauma out of my body.
14. Who Am I?

13. The Power of Now
This is another spiritual book that shifted the course of my spiritual journey and my life. After reading The Power of Now, I began practicing the techniques and experienced a rapid shift in my well-being. These techniques help give us access to the underlying inner peace and joy that lie behind other experiences. So if you’re new to spiritual books, this one comes highly recommended.

12. End of Your World
This quick read can help those who are already in the midst of awakening to help them get a better handle on where they are, where they are going, and some of the roadblocks that may be ahead.

10. Awakening Your Psychic Powers: Open Your Inner Mind And Control Your Psychic Intuition Today
I found this book to be an interesting read that helped me better understand that I wasn’t going crazy. Rather, my arising psychic experiences were not really all that strange and I was simply tapping into deeper layers of reality.
9. The Illumination Code: 7 Keys to Unlock Your Quantum Intelligence
I found The Illumination Code to be an interesting read and the activities to be easy to use. For example, one activity helps you tap into your own intuition to get Yes/No answers to your questions. The author does a great job of making these practices approachable and easy to use.
8. A Course In Miracles
I’m about 500 pages into this book and I pick it up whenever I’m feeling down because it reminds me to look at the world in a different way. It explains why guilt is not necessary (for you or others), and why forgiveness and loving others is not only beneficial but natural. If you’re the kind of person who can get through long, dense, religious books, this one comes highly recommended.
7. You Are the Happiness You Seek: Uncovering the Awareness of Being
What I love most about Rupert Spira is that he doesn’t get lost in spiritual ego or other spiritual traps (like channeling or psychic powers). He focuses on the ultimate goal of self-realization and how to get there using a direct path.

6. The Eye of Spirit: An Integral Vision for a World Gone Slightly Mad
I discovered that spiritual awakening is simply something that occurs once one reaches the later stages of personal growth. Indeed, this author explains that while one can pursue spirituality independent of other lines of growth (e.g., cognitive, social, etc…), spiritual maturity really comes once we’ve worked through our other human problems and progressed through earlier perspectives. So if you’re looking for a theoretical book to better understand spiritual growth, this may be a good choice for you.
5. How to Find What Isn’t Lost: A Short, Pro-Intellectual, Pro-Desire Guide to Enlightenment
What I most like about this author is his candor. ‘There is no free will,’ he states, and therefore it’s pointless to worry about anything. Rather, focus on being the instrument through which activities flow rather than the doer of those activities. This can help us, at the very least, not stress about life. I now personally try to practice this surrender whenever possible.

4. The Convoluted Universe: Book One
In these books, Dolores Cannon, a hypnotist, has discussions with people who are hypnotized. They describe their past life and between-life adventures. Although I am sure there are many skeptics, the consistency of information between people is interesting and compelling. As someone who didn’t believe in any of this, I found these books to open a doorway inside me and help me see that there was more to the universe than I could possibly understand. And this opening inside me was indeed helpful for my spiritual growth.
3. The Yoga of Truth: Jnana: The Ancient Path of Silent Knowledge
If you’re interested in using the mind (or deconstructing the mind) as a pathway to self-realization, this book may be a good fit for you. It really makes you think differently about the world around you.
2. Be As You Are: The Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi
Personally, I found this book to be one of the most helpful books because it dispels illusions that may appear at other stages of the spiritual awakening journey. In other words, it talks about many of the half-truths and distractions that emerge as one peels away the layers of reality. For example, we may get distracted by the development of psychic abilities, we may follow religious doctrine blindly, or we may idolize a leader instead of looking inward. Ramana Marshai explains why these are not fruitful paths to realization and what to do instead.
1. A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
Personally, I found this book to be just the right mix of information, practice, and deep insight. In fact, every time I consume Eckhart Tolle’s content, I learn something new that I missed during the previous round. That’s because we’re blind to certain insights that we’re not ready for. And this book ensures that everyone at just about every stage of spiritual awakening can benefit.
Spiritual Books That Just Missed The List
I’ve read a bunch of spiritual books that we’re just ho-hum, and of course, I did not include them here. But I also see that there are a few more books that I believe can be really helpful on the spiritual journey for some people but not others. Here are a few more books that may suit your unique journey.
1. Dark Calories: How Vegetable Oils Destroy Our Health and How We Can Get It Back
Dark Calories is a book that can help you understand how to remove hidden toxins from your diet so your body can heal effectively.
