Boy, can I understand this?
I finally figured out this entrepreneurship thing. At this point, I may even care more about entrepreneurship than wellness.
Let’s call it a draw.
Either way, you probably want to know how to start a wellness business because you’re considering trying it.
What if I told you that you can start a wellness business (or an online business of any kind) and run it for less than $500 a year? Even less, depending on the type of wellness business you want to start.
You can. I did it. I will do it. And I’ll tell you how I did it.
Here you will find exactly the things you need to do:
1. Create your wellness business website with your unique domain name
There are various websites that allow you to simply drag and drop your content onto the page. I forget what they all are. I’ve tried most of them and I’m pretty happy with my choice: Weebly.
I recommend starting with a free Weebly Website. You can create your entire website for free by simply dragging and dropping elements onto the page. It’s super easy.

Start-up costs: Free
Then you only pay once you have selected your domain name.
You can buy domain names cheaply, but I’m not an expert so I just bought my domain name there Weebly after creating my website. I think we only had about ten pages at the time. We now have hundreds of pages.
Cost: ~$20 per year.
If you’re considering starting a wellness business offering coaching, consulting, or other services that you personally provide, this is all you really need to start your wellness business.
And selling some type of wellness service is the easiest way to get started. Because when people get to know you and your wellness business, they are more likely to want to work with you.
2. Learn How to Attract Customers to Your Wellness Business
When I first started, I would go to meetups to meet people in person. This was probably the most effective approach, but it was very time consuming. Then I started prospecting by phone, email or Skype.

3. Increase the Credibility of Your Wellness Business with a Branded Email Address
When I purchased an email address with my website name, my wellness business seemed much more credible. (People thought it was a really big deal, even though it was just me and a few contractors involved.).
I was able to purchase my email address from Weebly and it links directly to my website. And I can even create a series of aliases to know what each message is about.
For example, I have an email for “Contact” and for “Advice” and one with my name. I approach each of these emails differently.
Cost: $70 per year. (This has increased recently)
4. Decide if your wellness business will sell physical products
If you want to make and sell products, you definitely need to use e-commerce tools.
An easy way to start selling physical products or subscriptions is to use Paypal. Paypal is completely free for businesses, but they charge around 3% on everything you sell.
I find square Costs about the same. That’s why I use both and let my customers choose when they check out on my Weebly website.

5. Decide if your wellness business will sell digital products
I’m not really sure if this is the best choice, but when I was looking for alternatives, it seemed difficult to integrate other options into my website (remember, I don’t know how to code).
I also hear good things about it Shopifybut I haven’t used it myself. I decided against it because it can end up costing you a lot of money to enjoy its great features.
6. Start collecting customer emails for your wellness business
If people just stay on your list, they will forget who you are and everything will be in vain.
So start with a mailing list.
I started my mailing list with Mailchimp. I used Mailchimp for free for years because my email list grew slowly at first. I spend most of my time AdviceThat’s why I let the emails collect themselves.

In recent years, I’ve learned that I struggle to stay in regular contact with people, so now I’m paying the price. Mailchimp so I can set up automated emails. Then I install them all and they come out regularly.
Cost: Free for up to 2,000 subscribers (I find). I buy credits and pay a fraction of a cent per email.
7. Start creating content that represents your wellness business
So at least create some content. Articles, videos, photos, everything. or take ours Business Growth Toolkit and publish our wellness content on your website.

I could literally spend all day looking at her images to find images for my wellness business. I love it!
When creating videos I use Screencast-o-matic to take screen recordings. Free too since they put their logo in the corner. Without a logo, it only costs $15 per year (which is pretty cheap).

8. Tell more people about your wellness business
I’m still not sure if using Hootusite is worth my time or money. But I’m going to stick with it a little longer and test it.
Update: I stopped using Hootsuite because I wasn’t attracting many new readers or customers through social media.
